Corporate Business Officer, Saskatchewan Centre for Cyclotron Sciences

The Sylvia Fedoruk Canadian Centre for Nuclear Innovation Inc. (Fedoruk Centre) is inviting applications for the position of Corporate Business Officer, to shape and grow the business of the Fedoruk Centre.   

Established in 2011, under the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, the Fedoruk Centre is a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Saskatchewan and located on the university campus in Saskatoon. The Fedoruk Centre’s purpose is to place Saskatchewan among global leaders in nuclear research, development and training through investment in partnerships with academia and industry, for maximum societal and economic benefit.

The Saskatchewan Centre for Cyclotron Sciences (SCCS) is owned by the University of Saskatchewan (U of S) and operated by the Fedoruk Centre. This new $25 million facility features a high-current ACSI TR24 cyclotron; a cGMP-level radiopharmaceutical laboratory including hot cells, auto-synthesis units and a quality control system (HPLC, GC, TLC); and a suite of offices, all located in 1400 square meters of newly renovated space co-located with 600 square meters of additional space to be developed in support of related research activities. It is licensed by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission as a Class II Nuclear Facility, and its core activity is the production of imaging probes and associated technologies for applications in human, animal and plant research and in medical care. This key infrastructure resource will be the centre of collaborations and partnerships among the province’s two universities, the provincial health regions and industry.

The Fedoruk Centre’s responsibilities include: diligent funding of nuclear research projects in Saskatchewan; fostering programs to build capacity in Saskatchewan to contribute scientific and social leadership in the nuclear domain; maintaining tools to inform policy makers and the community about nuclear topics; and operating a nuclear facility (the SCCS) that produces isotopes and radiopharmaceuticals for application in research and clinical diagnostics. The unique nature of its mandate and strong partnership with Government places the Fedoruk Centre among a select group of nuclear innovation initiatives, globally. The Fedoruk Centre is working to build an international, collaborative network of experts, enabling people in Saskatchewan to generate, interpret and apply knowledge in the nuclear domain, as well as to make positive impacts through the application of nuclear technologies in Medicine, Materials, Energy, and the Environment.

The salary range is $66,000 to $109,000 per annum. Placement within the range is dependent upon education and experience. This is a full-time permanent position. This position is not within any collective bargaining unit.
